Is Domain .edu.cn also a Scam? Be Careful!!!

Study in China Union (Admissions.cn):

Several days ago, we received a message from an international student who’s going to study in China, which said that she might be cheated by a Chinese agency which we never heard of. We don’t wanna refer to any agency here, and just wanna give our students a kind information “take care of yourself”.

Is Domain .edu.cn also a Scam? Too Many People Say “Yes”

ProblemWhy we would like to write such an essay on international students recruitment issue?

Becasue we want every student to feel like home when they study in an overseas country like China. China is a coutry of long history and high civilization, scam problem should be existed in education system, which is the foundation of a country.

At first, we think it might be a lie. The domain .edu.cn could only be registered by educational institution in China according to Chinese law and regulations. However, the problem is that, we found that some agencies also registered domain .edu.cn after they paid money to CERNET (China Education and Research Network). It’s said that the money might be around $4000/year.

Out of curiosity, we use google to search the related agency online, but the result actually astonlished us.

And here are some relevant information on application scam:

Features

In those scam, we founded some features among them.

① They charge too much service fee from international students.

② They would give a list like this “Top 10 Universities in China”.

③ They have already been blocked by international security organizations such as http://www.globalblacklist.org/.

④ They would ask some foreigners to give fake testimony on their website after paying some dollars.

But at Admissions.cn, actually you don’t have to worry about such problems any more.

First as a free platform, we won’t charge any service fee from our international students. Then we won’t list any “Top 10 Universities in China”, because we know that there is no such an institute in China that could deliver such a list except the Ministry of Education of China, and MOE won’t give such a list for it is obviously unfair for the development of universities in China.

Solution

① Ask native Chinese people about the universities recommened. Local Chinese people would know better whether the university is a top one in China…
